Walking or Hiking?

We decided we would try and do a walk from the gite instead of driving somewhere and taking a picnic. We did a short loop that took us up across the river so that we could see where we were staying. We came across a poor little Black-cap on the side of the road that must have been hit by a car, very sad indeed. We spent lunch at the gite and then went on a much longer walk or hike up to a hang-gliding platform that commanded wonderful views over the area, the Puy du Tour. We saw a very tatty Swallowtail butterfly up there and another short that looked new to us.
