The Old Boundary
This is Todmorden Town Hall (opened in 1875) with Walsden Water flowing through the culverts.
This river was the boundary between Lancashire & Yorkshire until 1888 when Todmorden became fully part of Yorkshire.
As you can see, the river flowed under the Town Hall thus, from 1875 to 1888 it was possible to dance in the Town Hall ballroom, forward and back, across two counties of England.
