So Cold.
Brrr! Welcome back to Shenzhen, where it's just SLIGHTLY colder than
Bangkok. It's been hovering in the upper 40s/low 50s F, but feels
about twenty degrees cooler when there is NO CENTRAL HEATING ANYWHERE.
Here is my little Gander trying desperately to warm up in front of our
puny space heater after walking from our office to our dormitory. We
both slept with multiple layers on, socks, gloves, you name it.
One thing the program we're with didn't prepare us for was just how
cold Southern China could get! We've been told it will soon be so hot
and humid that our clothes hanging out to dry will mold before they
actually dry...which sounds disgusting, but we are eagerly awaiting
the warmer temperatures.
Being from the Northwest, both of are used to rain and colder temps,
and we both have always said we'd rather be cold than hot, because you
can always put on the heat and wear more layers. This year has
certainly changed our perspectives on that! In the heat at least, we
can always put on our AC here...but when it's cold, it's just darn
cold.
