Bright and Cheery
This border was only planted last year and has had some recent additions. It has really flourished and, despite the overcast greyness of the day, it looks fresh and colourful. Phalaris Arundinaceae and cordyline are the main focus with Stachys Lanata in the centre. Hebe Midnight Sky has found its way in there, having outgrown its pot. You can also see if you look closely some Rudbeckia 'Cherry Brandy', grown from Sarah Raven's seeds this year. They are tender perennials, so I hope they survive the winter. I will grow some more just in case.
There are some large shrubs at the back: Mahonia and white mophead hydrangea which will take some time to establish. It's a real mixed border which should become more interesting as it matures!
