We got about 5 cm / couple of inches of snow today. Normally snow doesn't cause major problems around here as the winter lasts for months and we're obviously used to snow. This much snow this early, however, resulted in a lot of cars driving off the road as people haven't yet changed their winter tires on (we likely don't get "permanent" snow until late November or December, perhaps even January). A major powerline also went down in/near Joensuu, causing a 80-90 minute blackout in the whole town in the afternoon, with 22 000 households losing electricity. The blackout caused shops to close and obviously the radio station I'm training in lost its transmission. Hopefully not too many people were stuck in elevators during the blackout.
