Flood Prevention

In February 2000 the Water of Leith flooded and there was much damage done - particulalry lower down the river, So here we are ten years later and work is now taking place at Harlaw Reservoir as part of The Water of Leith Flood Prevention Scheme. The work here is to increase the storage of flood water which to me means they are going to build a bigger dam or higher slipway but that could be wrong. What the lower water level has done is reveal the underwater contour and the angler would do well to spend some time here trying to identify the food 'larders' for the trout. They're a bit like humans you see, in that they can pretty quickly identify the best soucres of food. In higher water these stones in the foreground will provide shelter for underwater insects and small fish which will in turn attract the larger fish. Simple.....

I got a bubble spirit level for my camera at Christmas and am enjoying using it and the results it helps me achieve.
