A High Point

This morning we drove up Mt Ventoux, at 6242 ft one of the highest point in Provence and which dominates the Rhone Valley. We passed a lot of Lycra clad cyclists - this is often a stage in the Tour de France, and it seems many want to have a go. They have to be fit !
We returned via Vaison La Romain and the wine villages of Gigondas and Vacqueyras. We stopped at the Hotel Le Floret where we had stayed 11 years ago, under the Dentelles de Montmirail, and then the Domaine Tourbillon owned by the family whose hotel we are staying at. The grape harvest is in full flow and the roads full of little tractors piled high with grapes.
