MEETING FRIENDS
A late blip today because we have been to Salisbury to meet our friends from Switzerland, Doris and Myrtha, and Doris's daughter-in-law who lives in Boscombe with Erich and their new baby son, Noah.
We had a wonderful day and didn't stop talking but I guess that's what happens when you haven't seen each other for 7 months! We were treated to fish and chips for lunch and then we had a quick wander round the market and the cathedral - before they had to head off back to Boscombe and we caught the bus back to Swindon.
Amazing how with true friendship you just pick up where you left off and it felt as if we had never been apart. We were sad to say goodbye to them, especially Myrtha, as she is off to the States next week for 18 months, but we look forward to seeing Doris and the rest of their lovely family again, hopefully next summer in Switzerland.
“The glory of friendship
is not the outstretched hand,
not the kindly smile,
nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spiritual inspiration
that comes to one
when you discover
that someone else
believes in you
and is willing to trust you
with a friendship.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
