Stevenage Charter Fair

We get about three fairs each year, but only one sets up in the Old Town High St. The Charter Fair has been coming here since the 13th century when they were granted an annual charter by King John. The proviso is that if they ever fail to turn up, the charter is finished. So they are here every year on the 22nd and 23rd of September. There must have been stalls and rides here all during the civil war, the plague, the 1st world war, the 2nd world war. Quite a tradition. I took this shot on a long exposure and played with the zoom while the shutter was open.
