Top Cat!

Cat that has got the cream more like. William has his first reading book. He is so pleased with himself and read it really well, although I had to persuade him to remove his coat and shoes first!

It shows me that he is very secure in his phonics knowledge as Carys didn't have a book this early and she didn't have these Songbird ones, although they maybe new to school since she started. What she definitely didn't have was all the single phonics letters put in her word box in one hit, with instructions to use them to make words to read rather than learning them. Part of the reading thing for Will is confidence. He has plenty in other areas, but he doesn't seem to realise that the words he reads on reading eggs are the same when they are not in reading eggs and he says he can't read them in a book. But that will just be a time thing. Quite frankly I would have been happy if the reading book had taken a little more time to appear as it is yet another thing that we have to do every night.
