The Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement
The Kiwis went to the poll on Saturday 20 September 2014 to elect the government for the next 3 years.
On election night, 48% of the registered voters voted for National, giving them 62 seats in Parliament. 52% of the registered voters did not vote for National; there were 700,000 abstentions, and an estimated 295,000 eligible Kiwis were not registered on the electoral roll.
Based on this recorded support from a minority (30%) of Kiwi eligible voters, the Prime Minister will go and sign the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) with the Barack Obama administration in Washington.
I spotted this doodle on the front panel of a fire hose in Queen Street, Auckland. A very apt commentary on the TPPA I thought.
