Industrial history

This building on Stornoway's James Street is currently home to a number of small companies, including a publisher of books and a dry-cleaner's. It used to be the headquarters of a Harris Tweed company, incorporating many of the town's 11 H.T. mills. As I indicated in a blip a few days ago, none of these now survive.

There used to be another building of similar architecture in the town, the Maritime Building. Situated on pier number 1, this was pulled down in October 2007 as being surplus to requirement.
