English Books!
This year I have decided to take an AP English course. We read a lot of books in this class, along with short stories, poems, and plays. Each reading assignment has a prompt that goes with it. We have an assignment dealing with each of these books. This is a picture of the books we have down so far. Over the summer we read Catch – 22, A Raisin in the Sun, and a poem by Robert Frost. As we were reading Catch-22 we had to keep a journal, explaining what we thought about each chapter. Then, we read A Raisin in the Sun and had to explain how it was a tragedy. We then did a poetry analysis on our choice of two poems by Robert Frost. I thought those three assignments were a lot over the summer, but once this school year started, I realized that it gets a lot harder. We are about a month into school and we are already supposed to have two and a half books read, and their writing assignments completed. I just finished The Joy Luck Club, and I am onto Their Eyes were Watching God. I have to finish that book soon because I need to start Jane Eyre. I wanted to take this AP course because I know it will look good when I apply for colleges, but it’s definitely a tough one!
