Kefir Grains

A real learning experience today, I got introduced to these fellas, a symbiotic organism composed of yeast and bacteria that ferment milk making Kefir. Unlike yoghurt thy improve bioavailability of certain vitamins.

They are looked after by one man, who spends his day washing, separating and disposing of old ones. I wasn't allowed to meet the man, not see the room in which he works, but the way they were spoken about I'm imagining its a baby's nursery!
