HERITAGE DAY TEA

It is yet another public holiday in South Africa. On this day we celebrate our heritage. I decided to mark the occasion by baking a "melk tert" which is not the same as a custard tart. A melk tert is has a custard filling made from eggs and hot milk infused with cinnamon and then baked in the oven.
In this picture is also a brandy tart that I bought at the market. The plates belonged to my great grand mother and my mother -in -law. Rusks and chocolate coated crunchies complete the selection on offer.
