FRITILLARIA :

Still long trousers ! Windy, miserable kind of day. This is F. IMPERIALIS LUTEA, which has to be the smelliest plant on the planet. Despite that, I have several clumps in the garden because I love Fritillarias. I have an orange one as well.

It has great drops of nectar at the base of each petal; Christian tradition tells that of all the flowers, only the proud Crown Imperial refused to bow it's head at the Crucifixion - it has bowed & wept ever since. In Persian, it is called "Tears of Mary".
