Change

U.S. quarter-dollars in my change-purse today.

Once, change was constant.
Now, it's continually changing.
I no longer recognize my change as money. Familiar. Stable. Reliable.

In the center, the back of the traditional quarter-dollar with its bald eagle.
Clockwise from bottom, a selection of new quarters honoring the 50 states: Wyoming, Alabama, Oregon, New York, Maryland, and Shenandoah.

Wait! What?? There's no State of Shenandoah!
Counterfeit? No, evidently a new series, honoring national parks.
Fifty more coins to memorize. Or not.

Why does my change keep changing?
