Schools of Kildare & Leighlin

The library has a great service that if you are looking for a particular book, they can check out all the books of all the libraries and borrow it for you.

I wanted to find out about the hedge school that was located just a couple of hundred yards from my house. A big stone marks the spot now, but it is covered in Ivy and you would never know that there was anything significant about it.

This book tells me that in 1824 the school was a thatched house and had 45 pupils attending. That's a start.
