Hill Top

Our first day of wet weather, although not the solid rain that was forecast. Spent some time mooching in cafés in Windermere and Bowness then used the little car ferry to cross to the other side of the lake and visit Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's former home, now owned by the National Trust. She left very strict instructions about how it must be laid out so that visitors can link the artefacts in the house to her stories. I was interested how the long-forgotten tales I read as a child came back to me as I wandered round.
