Lowering skies

For a brief spell this morning, the sun shone on Dunoon. All around the sky was a livid purply grey, and the air was warm and still. It was like a moment suspended in time.

This is the southern end of Royal Crescent, which lies above the town centre. The photo was taken from the end of the area once used for the town's gallows; the Bishop's palace was apparently nearby. The hills above the town are those currently under threat from a large wind farm - the application from PNE wind is due to be in by the end of this year.
