Tulip Festival
I should have called it "Tulips in Amsterdam Rotorua"!!
As a tourist city Rotorua really has some of the best city gardens, with intersections, roundabouts, centre strips full of flowering annuals, roses or native plants. And they are known for their display of tulips in the spring with over 50,000 bulbs planted each year in amongst other flowers, always colour co-ordinated.
This year is the inaugural Tulip Festival which is happening this weekend, but noticed when driving around town there are not as many flowering as I guess the committee had hoped, plenty of buds ready to break out though.
Took a number of tulip shots at different locations around town, including the middle of a busy roundabout with cars whizzing around, but chose this one to blip. Taken in the Government Gardens with the old Victorian styled croquet pavillion in the background. Decided I liked the group of Asian tourists in the photo...such a familiar sight around town, especially with their cameras out.
A bit late getting this blip up as it is now tomorrow, home late and then changed and off out to neighbours for dinner!
