Bicycle and Village Cross

I just bought a new bicycle. It was in fact my birthday present but it took me a while to find out which one I wanted. It's light and has good gears and it gets me out of the house for some fresh air and exercise fairly regularly. I know all the local walks like the back of my hand and they are lovely but it is great to be able to go a bit further afield and pedal through the back lanes in the autumn sunshine.
This is the village cross - a sandstone cross situated at a crossroads about half a mile from the village. It has a celtic cross design and looks mediaeval to me, though the column has recently been "repaired" by the parish council. To my eyes it looked better before.
