Wheels and the road...
I was really looking forward to this weekend's ride. We covered around 70km along loads of inclines and dirt roads. One of the best moments on the ride was when we reached a point on top of a hill with vast panoramic views and not a soul around. Even the smallest of sounds was audible.
The summer sun, beating down at 35 degrees transforms the idea of cycling. On one of the long steep inclines towards the end of our journey, the heat was so intense, it seemed to almost burn through your skin. I had goose-flesh from it, just as one does in cold temperatures. At extremes, there isn't much to separate the effect of warmth and coldness.
One of the riders, who was on a bike that needed repair struggled more than I have ever seen him. If we are to continue our rides as summer takes shape, we have to start when it is still dark.
Not much photography today, as the case generally is.
