Tomatoes
Considering that I didn't plant these until July when I got back from holiday, I think I've done pretty well for home grown tomatoes, and there are still quite a few left to pick. And a few green ones.
Today I learned something. I learned (from observation) how to replace a three foot square piece of Tarmac in the road. I can teach you too; here's how:
9.45am: Arrive at job site. Start reading newspaper.
9.50am: Open flask and drink tea.
10.15am: Move lorry to allow car past. Park lorry again in same place.
10.30am: Replace Tarmac in pot hole. Involves cutting a square of old Tarmac, cutting out old, replacing with new, tamping done with vibrator.
10.45am: Get back into cab; continue reading newspaper.
11.20am: Take out tape measure and measure area repaired.
11.21am: Admire horses in field.
11.23am: Back to newspaper.
11.35am: Leave job site.
11.50am: Man from Council arrives to inspect work.
I think that works out at 15 minutes of actual work over a one hour, fifty minute period. I don't expect they suffer from stress.
