Dunstanburgh castle & Craster walk

Beautiful weather today so we enjoyed coffee and breakfast in our garden before driving north to Northumberland. We parked at the lovely village of Craster and sampled the famous smoked craster kippers sitting outside at the harbour. We then walked along the coast towards the ruins of Dunstanburgh castle. We then walked around the castle and down to the beautiful soft sands of Embleton beach. The water was so clear and turquoise. This photo is looking back from Embleton towards the castle. We walked along the beach past several old military pill boxes and walked through farmland towards Craster again. It was a lovely 8km walk in the late September sun.
Now an evening of board games at the university.
