The Maiden Brig, Dalkeith

This is said to be where James IV of Scotland met Margaret Tudor, elder sister of Henry VIII of England, on her way to Edinburgh to become his Queen - leading eventually to the Union of the Crowns through their great-grandson James VI of Scotland / James I of England. The brig is on the South Esk near Newbattle Abbey in Lord Ancrum's Woods and links greens of Newbattle Golf Course on either side of the river, and walks in these woods.
