On Top of the World
Our much needed holiday has arrived and despite the intention of an early morning to head down to our Cornwall holiday cottage we, in usual Jacks & Steve fashion were quite disorganised and slow to leave the house. After some mad rushing around we were off. The M25 was the usual car park albeit moving slowly but it was fine as we were on our holidays.
The rest of the drive was quite uneventful as we listened to music and drove westwards towards the South West.
Our first main stop was Tintagel Castle which was a ruin on a cliff face. The scenery was breath taking and at the edge here Steve had a panic as I got closer and closer. Unbeknownst to Steve there was a ledge just below the edge which he couldn’t see from his vantage point but I could meaning I was a lot more relaxed. We wandered around here for a while before heading off to Port Isaac – our home for the week. The drive through Devon and Cornwall was lovely and Port Isaac is also incredibly beautiful. I didn't realise that this is the setting for a TV show called “Doc Martin” and there are references to it everywhere (including a picture of Martin Clunes in our cottage).
The main drawback, although I guess it was also quite nice once the initial shock wore off, was that there was NO internet in the cottage. I was sure I only looked at properties with wifi! To make it worse I also had no Vodafone signal let alone 3G or 4G so we have had a week of totally being switched off. Hence my many backblips from now….
