the signs told me in the woods today. I had no horse, only a bicycle, but the loose gravel is not good for a bicycle either and I took a different route.

If you're asking yourself why they put gravel on paths in the wood: This path is highly frequented by farmers and they need a more solid ground for their heavy machinery.
