Harvest festival

It's nothing like harvest festival at school which, some 45 years since I first contributed to one, still mainly consists of tins of soup and peaches and packets of blancmange.

Instead this was a glorious array of Autumnal fruit and veg on sale at a new farmers market near us. Hooray! I love our local Turkish shops and buy nearly all our fruit and veg from them but it is nice to have easy access to top notch tomatoes and glorious greens, golden beetroot and even spaghetti squash.

Ever had one? Bake it whole or in halves and then scrape out the flesh - it turns into magical spaghetti-like strings. Delicious tossed with butter and served with anything you fancy. Some of those little tomatoes I bought probably...
