Bellingham Architecture
We are on our way to the island and planned this stop in Bellingham to attend a retirement party at the home of H's former partner ( he's not retiring yet but a long time employee is). We got started later than I liked but did manage a visit to the Lightcatcher museum , the newest 2009 addition to the Whatcom County museum trilogy. It's main feature is this 37' high 180 ' long translucent wall that catches the NW light. This was mid afternoon so it's plain old bright sunlight ( not complaining!) it's the first LEED silver environmentally green museum in Washington. The Northwest Designer Craftsmen at 60 exhibition was fabulous! More inspiration!
(Sorry I can 't deal with links on this iPad right now ).
Then we went to the party in this beautiful 1897 Victorian home in the middle of downtown. What contrasts to our short journey thru Bellingham!
And then we came in to Tsawwassen BC -we had stuff to declare at the border but they didn't care - just waved us through !!!! -had a fine Greek meal and are relaxing in our motel. In the morning we will shop for groceries and catch the ferry to the gulf islands .
