Doors Open Day

I met a friend for lunch before going to a few of the doors open day venues. The first place we went was Newington Cemetery. I've pasted by there many times but have not gone in. It is a very interesting place, many layers of history can be seen in the gravestones. This was the grave of a Canadian soldier who died fighting in the first world war. I spotted two gravestones with maple leaves along side graves of British soldiers. This year marks 100 years since the start of World War 1.

Afterwords, we went to the Anatomy Museum, Chapel of St Albert the Great and the Royal Observatory. Had a great day. I usually end up doing the open day one my own, but was nice to have a friend to enjoy it with.
