Bitten Gargoyle

We saw this very uncomfortable image today at Salisbury Cathedral, on our way home from a trip to Cornwall.

I have no idea what sort of horrible little animal is biting his face. It looks a bit like yet another blood sucking creature of dread, which we continue to enjoy over the centuries.

It was extra special to look round this ancient building today, as I had my daughter who lives in Australia with me.
She has not been here for over four years, so I could really appreciate it, through the eyes of someone who does not enjoy these sights every week.
