A sign of autumn

...is when the horse chestnut tree leaves start to wither and brown and the conkers start falling. Our garden is full of fallen conkers, they do make such a mess. However, the squirrels seem to like them and if Murdoch would just stop barking at them I may eventually get a photo of one of them one day.

What a beautiful warm autumn day - at 23C surely one of the last warm days of the season?

Adam had another driving lesson today and then insisted on driving me into the village - with the streets full of cyclists, families out and about on a Sunday going to lunch or shopping, and more cars around than I would have liked. Like the white van driver who got impatient as Adam was trying to cross the traffic turning right into the street, and decided it was funny to pull up really close behind him and rev the engine repeatedly. I nearly got out and had a strong word with that driver! But he did well including parking and a three point turn, and I did well by not shouting out when I wanted to and trying not to clench the dashboard too tightly!
