Postcard from the Bush
Anywhere rural, by which we mean 'not a preccinct of a capital city', we sometimes refer to in Australia as 'the bush'. It's a carryover in language from the days when this town, as an example, was remote. meaning a couple of days distance away from a capital city or large metrolitan centre and also covered mostly with indigenous forest. And an intact natural waterway and convergences made their natural environment, in this instance rich with birdlife and native animals. Here where the land slopes up a rise from the Tatiara Creek channel and the sun's early morning rays hit this aspect fair and square, a neighbour's 'bottlebrush' as we call this beautiful tree that is so popular here as a public and private garden ornamental 'weeps' onto the public footpath past their property.
