When you read you begin with...

Katie has a short-notice coaching session for her Festival solo tomorrow. So today we did a wee bit of extra practicing. At 6.00am when she'd woken up full of the joys. She is very, very adorable (yes, I am biased, but she is!)

She cycled to school, where the pirate theme continues. The letter treasure maps around the outdoor area had been joined by letter coins in the sand pit "treasure chest". She had a session with her teacher. He seems to have done the Yr 1 phonic check with her today as she said to me he was making up not-real words (which she thought stupid) and she had to read some and write some, and she did some writing of proper words. She said she read her book to him too and "he just picked a place that wasnt the start and then she read to the end". I think she's enjoyed this session more than the last one, she seemed to feel a little bit more pushed.

I planned to cycle home again with her after school but was running late (after my first "ladies that lunch" outing since she started school, oh what fun!!) so we packed her bike in the car (Grandad: it fits, very convenient!) and drove home. She ate a good tea before we headed to gymnastics.
