Kasturba Gandhi Ashram
Another Sunday with the Aashayein Foundation. Today's venue was the Kasturba Gandhi ashram. For the uninitiated, Kasturba Gandhi was Mahatma Gandhi's wife. This particular ashram was home to kids and mentally retarded people. This is a Government run institute and not in the best of shape. The area is big with trees and lots of open space for kids to play and run around. The facilities and the condition otherwise is not the greatest. When I entered the premises this morning, the place seemed quite sad to me. It was surprising that in spite of being home to so many kids, the place was silent - uncomfortably silent! It did take quite some time for the kids to get comfortable with us and start playing. Once unleashed, their spirit was free from all inhibitions.
Many new faces in the foundation today. In fact, the regulars were in minority today :) Good to see the group growing and many people taking time out for the foundation.
