Au revoir a France

The Normandy landscape was covered in mile after mile after mile of cultivated maize, some harvested and some standing tall. The entire plant, cob and all is harvested and chopped up in situ before being loaded on trailers and conveyed to storage silos.

The cobs are not for human consumption but the entire plant is used for winter feed for the cattle. There are vast numbers of cows farmed to produce lakes of milk to make the cheeses that are so famous in Normandy - Camembert and Brie are just two.

We return home today and this is being uploaded at sea!
