We have just reported on The Peppered Moth by Margaret Drabble. Only two of us liked it. I was one. It totally resonated with me. It spoke to my fascination with genetics. It dealt with the strength of the female strain of inherited characteristics and was uncompromisingly honest with nostalgic detail and also with the meaning of life and death.
This month we tackle Margaret Drabble's sister Susie aka A S Byatt. Apparently ever since childhood they have been in competition with each other, never more so than as authors, with Susie having a Booker prize in the bag. It has resulted in very little communication between the two.
