planting for winter protection

We weren't sure how to not kill the Japanese maples over the winter so we dug a few holes where we plan to put a bit if a garden next year. We planted them in the pots to make it easier to take them out in spring. I'll cover them in burlap once the leaves have dropped and possibly add fleece around the base.
