A great day out.

If you retire to a busy village and you have sills at organising things it can soon begin to feel like you are back at work again.

So in addition to the main summer holiday in the mountains photographing flowers and butterflies you need some mini breaks to get away from the phone and email.

Today's was perfect. Train from Arnside to Ravenglass on the Cumbrian Coast. Delicious lunch of freshly caught sea bass cooked in a paper packet, great ride in an open carriage on the famous Ravenglass- Eskdale narrow gauge railway, lovely woodland walk to one of the Lake District's prettiest waterfalls and a lovely evening train ride back home. On the coast line the rails go clickety clack so some nostalgia thrown in for good measure.

Tomorrow is a theatre matinee ( a Ben Travers farce) followed by two nights in a hotel in Borrowdale.

Life is good.
