Wednesday 24 Spetember 2014: Patio Nectarine
Back in the spring our favourite garden centre was offering its "gardening club" members a plant for half price. When these offers are on we try to take advantage of them which lead once to a situation where a young lad on the till turned and asked a senior member of staff "is a tree a plant"
Anyway back to this offer we spotted this lovely little tree with lots of pink flowers and decided it was for us. It turns out it was a patio nectarine. We assumed this was an ornamental variety like flowering cherries don't produce a crop.
Looking at the label it says "grafted on to a dwarf root stock" and "red fruit with juicy yellow flesh". I can't vouch for the flesh as there are no ripe fruit but for such a small tree there are a good number of these unripe ones.
Still visiting CC's Mum in hospital but she was considerably brighter today.
