The Elan Valley. mid-Wales

This is the view of the Craig Goch (red rock) reservoir in the Elan Valley as seen from the ancient track used by monks between Abbey Cwm Hir and Strata Florida Cistercian monasteries back in the 12/13th Century .
All this is within the Elenydd Mountains ( Cambrian Mountains). I love the rounded hills of moorland, wet grasslands and heath. Sadly this landscape has suffered the impacts of access roads, forestry, reservoirs, over-grazing and now wind turbines. Its the heart of Wales and deserves better protection.
