Times Of My Life

Bandit Country

Burntisland High Street, bathed in mid-morning sunshine on the last day of September.

Nana and Grandad usually do the childcare for the Bandits on a Tuesday, but as they are on holiday this week I had the pleasure today, and it was a pleasure. After dropping Arlo off at school, Ida at nursery, and Mummy at the station, I went to the High Street to get a newspaper and some rolls for breakfast.

This lovely wee street is like a flashback to the 70's: apart from the Co-op every shop seems to be an individually owned business. Butchers, bakers and greengrocer exist in harmony with the bookies, and the 'Spiritual Harmony Centre'. I love it.

After getting my messages I headed back to my daughter's house for breakfast, then tidied up the kitchen before it was time to pick No 2 grandchild up from nursery. She wanted to play at the park for a bit before we went home for lunch. Got into a game with a nursery friend, playing 'Princesses'! Then it changed to Mummies and Babies, but Ida did not want to be a baby. Quoth she: "I want to be a kid, not a baby!".

Back home we watched Peppa Pig on the laptop in the kitchen as Johnny and Billy the workmen were busy installing a wood-burning stove in the livingroom. Lunch was had, tidying up was done, and then it was time to go and collect grandchild no. 1 from school.

After tea, Daddy arrived home and started to help out with the school project of creating a pirate ship from household recyclable waste. Mummy was collected from the station and brought home to admire her new stove, and this Granny jumped in her trusty (if still very noisy) wee car and headed north.

Now, glass of wine to hand, I'm just about ready to take Rocky for his evening stroll then collapse into bed. Been a lovely day in Bandit country.

PS: did I mention - it's unmetered parking in the High Street? Unbelievable1
