Cars and castle
Out and about in Kent this morning for a car photo shoot. I am constantly on the lookout for a good backdrop to rev up the view of the cars we photograph for a magazine. I love this place.
It is an ancient castle, built in the 1380s on the edge of marshland. The passage of centuries has made a significant difference, and it is now two miles inland. It was besieged in the Wyatt rebellion in 1554, when the owner was briefly imprisoned as a sympathiser with the cause. A later owner was said to have inspired Shakespeare's Falstaff.
The current owner, lucky chap, is Jules Holland. It is also the site of a popular wedding venue, with receptions in a beautiful adjoining barn. Nearby is a nature reserve with lovely views across the estuary. The surrounding area is pure Darling Buds of May country. I'll be back there again, for sure.
