And the Supreme Champion is...
........ the Jersey cow!
Today I was at the Dairy Event held at the Bath and West Show ground at Shepton Mallet. This is show case event for the dairy industry, with exhibitors travelling from all over the UK and further abroad!
I volunteered to help man the Judges and Stewards hospitality suite. Mr Tbay stewarded the Trade Stand Judge, while Mr Tbay Jnr enjoyed a day at the Show!
The standard of cattle was very good and the final line up for Supreme Champion is my blip. The little brown cow on the far left is the Jersey cow and winner. The runner up was a very nice Ayrshire which is on the far right.
Today saw milk prices being dropped to the farmer once again. How does an industry think its suppliers can survive when they pay below cost of production at times. It is so heart breaking to see these milk producers incomes hit again. All they want is a fair price and consistency in pricing but it seems that the industry cannot deliver this. Bottled water costs more than milk......... Rant over !
Farming- Routine maintenance once the boys returned from the show.
