Gong Xi Fa Cai

We spent the afternoon in Boston's Chinatown to watch the lion dancers bring good luck to the local businesses. You'd think with all the colorful activity, I'd be able to get a decent shot of a lion dance, but alas, I am too short and the dancers too fast. This simple shot belies the pounding of the drums, the crackling of the fireworks, the density of the crowd, and the fierceness of the lions.

Finished off the afternoon with one last new year binge on Chinese food in one of those deliciously dive-y places where you don't want to look too closely at the floor or any other horizontal surface but you ignore it because the food is so good. As I said to my husband, "These kind of places are the best, but you don't want to go home and google 'the name of the restaurant' plus 'board of health'."
