It's Autumn ...

The sun was shining when I looked out of my window this morning, though I could see that the Firth was not as calm as it's been recently. However, it was the air temperature when I went out that told the story: Autumn has arrived after all.

So this is my autumnal border in the front garden. I thought it looked rather pleasing from above - much more so, in fact, than it does from ground level. The two russet patches are stray rowan trees that have decided to take root on the drystane dike, and the mass of dark red is our neighbour's rather exuberant berberis. Our gardening is usually of the slash and burn variety of last-resort maintenance, but just for now I enjoy looking down on this...
