Above Wannock.
This afternoon we did a circular walk from Wannock via Folkington which took about an hour and an half.
Wannock ,which may be a Saxon place name, lays below the downs between Polegate and Jevington having a village hall but no church, pub or shops.
There was once two tea gardens in Wannock which were popular with coach parties from near by Eastbourne, a dance hall ,standing on stilts over a local beauty spot and boat rides on a local stream being the main attractions.
I can remember the one that stood at Wannock cross roads, were the main attraction was a water otter, which when you finally found it was in fact a kettle!
