Risk-taking octogenarian
Octogenarian Joy Scott is all about taking risks.
Here choreographer Chrissie Ardill lifts her in our Keep Dancing Older dance class at the Macrobert arts centre.
But then Joy is former Scottish water ski champion and she knows a thing or two about risk-taking
Recently she was interviewed for the Macrobert booklet promoting equality.
She said: “I would like to see more groups catering to my age group.
Because when you’re dancing and make mistakes or you forget what you’re doing, you just make up the move yourself and you become less self-conscious and you think – okay I’ll do my own thing. It becomes fun. Because life is fun.”
A few days ago Joy was in a car accident.
A deer leapt out in front of her car causing her to swerve, she went off the road and the car tipped over leaving her hanging from her seat belt.
She was eventually rescued unscathed but her car is a write-off.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention…she has had one knee replacement and she is waiting to have another but that doesn't slow her down.
