Oban

The first time I came to Oban (on the way back from Iona many years ago) I had a little pot of whelks from the shop at the pier. Today, we revisited that, as well as going to the fish shop for the makings of a pie and generally having a lovely stroll around in the sun. If you're wondering what Whelks are like, think halfway between octopus and winkles.

Preceded by a very pleasant early morning walk, and succeeded by an afternoon walk and drink at Port Appin. A very enjoyable holiday in the middle of what has been otherwise busy for a holiday.
